Monforte d'Alba is located in the south-east of the Barolo area and has chalky clay soils, which contribute to the intensity and minerality of the wines. The aromas of these Barolos are complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, spices, leather and sometimes a touch of tar. Although they are often firm and sometimes even austere when young, they develop an elegant balance and refinement with age.

The municipality of Monforte d'Alba can be divided into three parts. Bussia in the north, Bricco San Pietro in the south-western part and east with a view of Serralunga d'Alba with Perno and Ravera di Monforte.
