• Warm and dry:The year 2015 saw a warm growing season, with particularly high temperatures during the summer months, especially in July. This led to a relatively early ripening of the grapes.
• Favorable rainfall in August:Rain in August brought relief from the heat of July, allowing the grapes to recover and their ripening to proceed in a more balanced direction. The rain also helped to preserve the acidity in the grapes, which is important for the balance of the wine.
• Cold nights in September:These contributed to the concentration of aromas and the freshness of the grapes.

2.Flavor profile

• Full and rich:Barolo 2015 has a pronounced full body, with concentrated flavors. The wines are rich and opulent, with intense fruit aromas of ripe cherries, plums and dark berries.
• Soft tannins:Although Barolo is known for its firm tannins, the tannins in the 2015 wines are generally softer and riper, thanks to the warm growing conditions. This makes the wines more approachable in their youth than some other vintages.
• Good balance:Despite the heat of the year, the wines have retained good acidity, which provides a balanced structure and a long finish. The balance between fruit, tannin, and acidity is characteristic of this vintage.
• Aromas and flavors:In addition to the ripe fruit, there are typical Barolo aromas such as roses, tar, tobacco, and herbs. These wines also often have subtle notes of chocolate, licorice, and spices, which increases their complexity.

3.Maturation potential

• Accessibility and storage potential:The softer tannins mean that many of the 2015 Barolos can be enjoyed relatively young, but they also have enough structure and acidity to age well. The best wines from this vintage are expected to still be beautiful in 10 to 20 years.
• Refinement with time:As usual with Barolo, the wines will continue to develop in the bottle, with secondary and tertiary aromas (such as earthy notes, truffle and leather) becoming more prominent over time.
