Brunello is a wine with complex aromas of red fruit, flowers, herbs and sometimes a hint of tobacco or leather. The wine has a rich and full taste with tones of cherries, plums, herbs and a hint of vanilla. Brunello has a firm structure and a long aftertaste. Brunello must mature for at least five years before it is marketed, of which at least two years in oak barrels. This gives the wine its characteristic taste and aroma.
