94-96/100 points Cru Nicco Brunello from Capanna

Ruby red color with garnet-like glints. In the nose elegant aromas, red fruit, such as cherry, chocolate, cherry jam, black pepper, flowers and a hint of musk. In the mouth the wine is beautifully structured, harmonious, powerful, beautiful fresh acids, clearly present tannins and a very long lasting aftertaste.

The vineyards of Capanna are located just north of the town of Montalcino. In total the company has 23 hectares of vineyards (Montesoli). The soil type is mainly clay with chalky rock and traces of shells. The grapes of the Nicco Brunello come from the oldest part of the vineyard, the vines were planted in the early to late nineties of the last century. The exposure of these vines is northeast and lies at an altitude of 250 to 280 meters.

After the manual harvest of the grapes in late August, early September, they are carefully selected and then softly pressed. The spontaneous fermentation, with the natural yeasts from the vineyard, takes place in large steel vats, with the skins, for a period of 25 to 30 days. The further maturation of the wine takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels, from 10hl to 25 hl, for a period of 30 to 36 months. After this, the wine is bottled. In the bottle, it refines for at least 6 months in the cellars of the domain.

Brunello 2019 Capanna wine/food combination, delicious with meat dishes, steak, pork tenderloin and aged cheeses.
