Conterno Giacomo - Monforte d Alba - Barolo DOCG
Giacomo Conterno: The Gold Standard of Barolo
In the world of Barolo wines, the name Giacomo Conterno is a symbol of excellence and timeless tradition. Located in Monforte d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe region, this winery has been a benchmark for quality and authenticity in the production of Barolo wines for almost a century. The Giacomo Conterno winery is known for its uncompromising dedication to perfection, where every bottle is a testimony to craftsmanship and respect for the rich winemaking traditions of Piedmont.
The winery's origins date back to 1908, when Giovanni Conterno opened a small tavern in San Giuseppe near Monforte d'Alba. At a time when Barolo was mainly sold in bulk, he began bottling his own wine. His son Giacomo continued this vision and created the legendary Barolo Riserva "Monfortino", which was first bottled around 1920.
In 1961, Giacomo's sons, Giovanni and Aldo, took over the winery. Due to different ideas about winemaking, Aldo left in 1969 to found his own winery, Poderi Aldo Conterno. Giovanni remained faithful to the traditional method and led the estate until his death in 2004. Since then, his son Roberto Conterno has been at the helm, continuing the classic style while investing in modern technology to ensure quality.
