Casanova di Neri – Modern class with deep roots in Montalcino
Casanova di Neri has quickly become one of the most iconic producers of Brunello di Montalcino. The estate was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri, an entrepreneur from Montevarchi (Tuscany) with a vision: to produce Brunello of exceptional quality, with a deep expression of the terroir. Today, his son, Giacomo Neri, runs the winery with the same passion and dedication, and under his leadership the estate has become an international benchmark.
📍 Location & vineyards Casanova di Neri is located just east of the town of Montalcino. The estate owns vineyards in several zones of the appellation, including the famous Tenuta Nuova (southeast slopes) and Cerretalto, a unique single vineyard in the east, located on the Asso River. This diversity of soils and microclimates allows for the production of complex, elegant and at the same time powerful wines.
The vineyards are managed sustainably. Giacomo Neri and his team work with respect for nature, with minimal intervention and maximum precision in the vineyard.
🍇 Philosophy & Style Casanova di Neri is known for a style that looks modern, without losing the essence of Brunello. The wines are deep and concentrated, but always retain elegance and freshness. Characteristic is the use of natural yeasts, long macerations and maturation in large Slavonian barrels (botti), combined with sometimes smaller French oak barrels for the top cuvées.
The Tenuta Nuova, introduced in the 1990s, was an innovative step: a vineyard outside the classic zones, planted on soil that Giacomo considered revolutionary at the time. The wine quickly proved to be a great success and is now one of the most beloved Brunellos in the world. In 2001, Casanova di Neri gained international recognition when Cerretalto 2001 was named Wine of the Year by Wine Spectator.
🌍 International fame Today, Casanova di Neri is among the absolute top of Italy. The wines are loved by collectors, sommeliers and wine lovers worldwide. Every year they are rewarded with high scores by critics such as James Suckling, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Vinous.
Casanova di Neri is the perfect example of how modern craftsmanship and respect for tradition can come together in a wine that fully reflects the character of its origins.
