Product information

Tassi's beloved Brunello di Montalcino receives high ratings every year from wine journalists

Ruby red wine with garnet-like glints. The wine captivates with its intense aromatic scents, beautiful red fruit tones and Mediterranean scrub. In the mouth the wine is stylish, full, intense and rich, beautifully balanced and with beautiful rounded tannins, a refined acidity and a wonderfully long lasting aftertaste.

The grapes come from one of the Tassi vineyards, which was planted in 1999 and covers 2.8 ha. The vines of the basic Brunello are on the lowest part of the vineyard. The vineyard is located in the southern part of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, Castelnuovo dell'Abate. The vineyard is at an altitude of 240 meters and has a south-west exposure. The soil is clay-loam mixed with rock with magnesium, iron and manganese.

The grapes are picked by hand from the end of August to mid-September. They are then carefully selected for quality and gently pressed. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in non-vitrified cement vats. This process takes about 15-20 days. The wine is further matured in medium-sized oak barrels of 30hl to 40 hl for a period of 36 months. The wine is then bottled and refined for a few more months in the cellars of the domain.

Brunello di Montalcino from Tassi wine/food combination perfect with game dishes or hard, aged cheeses.

Wine Journalists' Rating

Robert Parker 94/100 points

The certified organic Tassi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino mirrors some of the qualities we saw in the new Rosso (Greppino 193) with a bright and lifted presentation. There is red cherry, pastry cream, plum and rose tea. The effect is delicate and elegant with fine, chalky tannins. These are the good kind of drying tannins that also remain silky. This wine is enjoyable on all fronts, but it won't be ready for prime-time drinking for another year or so.

James Suckling 93/100 points

Attractive cherry and berry aromas with some orange peel. Medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and polished. Refined and focused. Subtle. From organically grown grapes. Drink after 2025.
