Product information

Excellent Gambero Rosso Barolo Cru Ceretta from Giovanni Rosso.

Ruby red wine with garnet glints. In the nose aromas of violets, rose, ripe cherry and white pepper, with an enchanting complexity. In the mouth the wine is powerful, firm but also soft, with a beautiful complexity and an excellent acid balance. The finish is silky smooth with beautifully integrated silky tannins. The grapes come from the vineyard located in the Cru Ceretta. The vineyard has a southern and south-eastern location at an altitude of 350 - 365 meters.

In September-October, the grapes are harvested manually after careful selection. After destemming and soft pressing of the grapes, fermentation takes place in large concrete vats. The must is regularly pumped around. The wine matures in large French oak barrels of 25 to 50 HL. for a period of 30 to 36 months. The wine is then bottled. In the bottle, the wine refines for at least 10 months in the cellars of the domain.

Wine Journalists' Rating

95/100 points James Suckling

Pale ruby with a dark, complex and vibrant nose of prunes, roses, violets, balsamic, licorice and restrained peach peel. On the palate this is concentrated, with a full body, firm yet ripe tannins and crisp acidity. Overall more powerful than elegant, but very refined in the finish. It could use a bit more depth, but with bottle aging it will increase in complexity.
