The wine opens with a deep garnet colour with light ruby reflections at the edges. The nose is complex and layered, with seductive aromas of ripe morello cherries, black cherries and dried roses, complemented by subtle hints of cinnamon, cloves, tobacco and truffle.
At first sip, the beautiful balance between freshness, structure and depth is immediately noticeable. The velvety tannins and lively acidity provide a refined and mineral backbone, while the wine opens up with notes of balsamic, cedar, black tea and liquorice. The long, persistent finish ends with nuances of Mediterranean herbs and a subtle earthy undertone.

The grapes for this Riserva come from the best plots of Gianni Brunelli, located in both the northern and southern part of Montalcino. This unique combination gives the wine a perfect balance between freshness and depth.
The vineyards in the north (Canalicchio) have a chalky, galestro-rich subsoil, which provides a refined minerality and freshness. The plots in the south (Podernovone) have a more clayey and sandy soil, which contributes to the structure and complexity of the wine.
2019 saw a perfect growing season, with a warm but balanced summer and cool nights, which allowed for slow and even ripening of the grapes.
The grapes were picked entirely by hand in early October 2019 and rigorously selected so that only the best bunches were used for this prestigious Riserva.
This Riserva has undergone an exceptionally long and careful maturation:
- Maturation: 48 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.
- Bottle maturation: Minimum 12 months before release.
This traditional maturation ensures an optimal tannin structure and a subtle integration of wood, without the wine losing its fruitiness and liveliness.
Already a pleasure to drink now, but its real potential will be revealed between 2028 and 2045.
