Fantastic Cru Ravera Riserva Barolo from Cogno from Novello.
Coming from the Cru Ravera vineyard. Full, brilliant garnet colour, with clear aromas of rose petals, sweet spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, fine tobacco, mint, plus a light scent of licorice. In the mouth the wine is full of flavour, powerful, elegant , with hints of fresh spices and red fruit. Thanks to the 36 months of maturation in large barrels, the tannins are particularly expressive and silky. The fruit makes a strong comeback in the long, juicy finish.
The vineyard is located at an altitude of 380 meters near the town of Novello. The vineyard is 1 hectare and planted with 4,000 vines per hectare.
The grapes are picked by hand in late September, early October and carefully selected for quality. After picking, the grapes are gently pressed and undergo their fermentation in large steel vats, in which the must is regularly pumped around.
The wine matures for a period of 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels of 50 HL. After this, the wine is bottled. In the bottle, the wine refines for at least 24 months before it is marketed.
Strictly for Barolo purists, it is a wine that makes no concessions to market demands or taste trends. To create this honest Barolo, we respectfully and scrupulously follow the experience passed on to us by our grandparents: from the choice of the Nebbiolo clone (100% Rosè) to the cultivation system, lower yields due to the “Vigna” designation, the use of indigenous yeasts, ageing in large barrels — plus, of course, the Langhe microclimate. All this care and attention produce a wine worthy of its history and tradition, capable of raising the profile of the Barolo denomination.
The emotional and qualitative value is indicated by the label: a chick that Elena drew for her parents Nadia and Valter when she was only three years old. Since then, it has been the symbol of the wine.
