Product information

Superb Riserva Brunello from the five-star 2019 vintage

Intense ruby red wine with beautiful burgundy reflections. In the nose intense aromas of black red fruit, berries, vanilla and Mediterranean herbs. In the mouth the wine is complex, beautifully layered, full, with velvety tannins in the long finish.

The grapes come from the 0.5 ha Fontelontano vineyard. The vineyard is planted with 3,500 vines per ha. The location is at 360 meters. The soil is sandy clay with fossils, marl and limestone.

In October, the grapes are picked by hand after careful selection. After picking, the stems are removed and the grapes are gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats (28-30°C) for a period of 20 to 25 days. During the first week, the must is regularly pumped around slowly. The wine is further matured in 5 hl French oak barrels for a period of 36 months. The wine is then bottled. In the bottle, the wine refines for at least 18 months in the cellars of the estate.

Collemattoni Burnello Riserva 2019 wine/food pairing:

perfect with game, stewed meat, hard cheeses such as pecorino.

About Collemattoni:

Collemattoni takes its name from the farm of the same name, which over time has become the farm's brand. The Collemattoni farm seems to date back to around the end of the 17th century. The first mentions of the Bucci family, originally from the small town of Sant'Angelo in Colle, date back to the end of the 19th century, with Giuseppe Bucci. Today the company is managed by Marcello Bucci. The vineyards are cultivated with great respect for nature.

Wine Journalists' Rating

17/20 Jancis Robinson

Maturing mid ruby with orange tinges. Hugely concentrated, deep raspberry sprinkled with saline, minerally notes. Bags of juicy raspberry fruit and grainy tannins in equal measure. All Sturm und Drang and yet there is real balance. It just needs time to settle but even right now it certainly makes you sit up.
