Product information

La Morra Barolo Cru Roggeri rated with 2 Red Glasses of Gambero Rosso -2018 (Excellent).

Garnet red colour with good depth, an intense and elegant nose with fruity notes, well supported by a sweet spiciness combined with sensations of violet and dried rose. Powerful and harmonious in the mouth with a dense and complex tannic structure. Pleasantly fresh and savoury, The wine has a long lasting aftertaste.

The Roggeri subzone is located in the La Morra zone of the Barolo DOCG. The vineyards have a south-eastern exposure and are situated at an altitude of 300 metres. The soil type is mainly calcareous clay. The vineyard was planted in 1979 with a density of 4,000 vines per hectare.

After the manual harvest of the grapes, which takes place in several rounds, the grapes are carefully selected. The vinification takes place in a traditional way in large, temperature-controlled, concrete vats, where the skins have long contact with the must. The further maturation takes place partly in French and partly in Slavonian oak barrels for a period of 28 months. After this, the wine is bottled. Further refinement takes place for another 4 months before the bottles are put on the market.

Barolo wine/food pairing: excellent with game, stewed red meat, aged cheeses and dishes served with white truffle.

About Ciabot Berton:

The foundation for Ciabot Berton was laid in 1876. Luigi Oberto bought his first vineyard, half a hectare, for 2,700 lire, in one of the best Crus in La Morra, "Rive". This vineyard is still owned by the family. The grapes from this vineyard are used for the "1961" Barolo. In 1961 the first Barolos were bottled. The current "1961" Barolo is therefore linked to this vineyard, where these old vines still stand. At the moment the company is managed by Marco Oberto. He is the fifth generation in the company. In total Ciabot Berton has 14 hectares of vineyards, all located in the La Morra Crus. Attention to quality and dedication result in elegant Barolos, which have the ability to age wonderfully.
